Gandinnovations Jeti 3150 dedicated flatbed UV-cured inkjet printer reviews

In order to learn what it is really like to have a Gandinnivations Jeti 3150 flatbed printer we have made two trips to Minneapolis to inspect this printer in action.

We first visited the print shop after they had the Gandy Jeti 3150 printer for a few months. Then we returned after about a year. So now we can report precisely what it is like to have this Gandinnivations Jeti 3150 flatbed printer.

  • Is it worth the purchase price?

  • What is tech support like?

  • Is the print shop pleased with the printer, or not?

  • Are they making money?

  • Would they buy another printer from Gandinnovations?

  • Are their clients happy?

  • Do they wish they had bought another printer (a different brand)?

You get all this and more in a site-visit case study from the FLAAR Reports.

A second site-visit report is now available from FLAAR, based on spending several days inside a large printshop in Europe that had three Gandy printers: the Jeti flatbed 3150, the Jeti roll-to-roll UV printer, and a Jeti solvent ink printer.

Now two new models of Jeti flatbed UV printers are available (4x8’ Gandinnovations Jeti 1224 UV and larger Jeti 2030 UV flatbed printers)

One model at 4x8 foot size is now out; and a model for 2x3 meters. Both are based on the original 3150, but with new features, especially the complete hood for protection against UV lamp light leak and potential misting of ink.

The Oce 250 UV lamp light leak is not protected by any hood; it is open, and thus potentially a liability for the retinas of your eyes. Any ink misting that may be occurring is not controlled at all if there is no hood. Plus ventilation in general is not as easy if the printer is open. Even ColorSpan now has all its printers covered with hoods. Mimaki added a hood to their UV flatbed prototype, and when their JF-1631printer was finally released, even the first hood was completely redesigned (based in part by polite critique by FLAAR). Presently the Oce 250 and a few other flatbeds stand out as being unprotected. If an unprotected UV-curing system meets EU standards, the logical question to ask is whether the standards themselves are adequate.

If you are about to buy a UV cured inkjet printer you are shopping around. You have probably looked at the Durst Rho 600, Vutek PressVu 200/600 and others. Perhaps you looked at the entry level Zund 215 or ColorSpan 72uvX? Or maybe the NUR Tempo or the high-end Luscher JetPrint?

We have site-visit case studies of all of these.

FLAAR also has reports on the Mimaki JF-1631 flatbed and on the GRAPO Manta flatbed. In fact if you order all six site-visits (or any six UV printer reports on any other brands) you receive direct access to ask Prof. Hellmuth your questions, or you can make an appointment to visit with him at a trade show. There is no charge for direct access once you have purchased a requisite number of the full-color reports. You get his personal e-mail address and direct office telephone.

We also have site-visit case studies of some solvent ink printers. Last week we visited a printing company in Istanbul that had four Gandinnovations Jeti solvent printers and one Zund 215 UV flatbed.

If you purchase any four complete UV-series, or any 12 individual UV reports (on specific brands, 2nd level reports or above, or site-visit case studies) you can also arrange to have Dr Nicholas Hellmuth come to your print shop as a consultant. Just cover the basic airfare, transportation to your print shop (anywhere in the world) and per diem costs (hotel, meals). We can consult in Spanish, German, and also English, and can understand French, Italian, and Portuguese.

Once you have bought the reports, there is no additional consulting expense other than getting Professor Hellmuth to your location.

We are adding new pages and new features every month so it is not always realistic to update old pages from past years. All the old equipment is still available on eBay, so we keep even our old pages. If you wish only the more up to date product reviews, these are in PDFs (not in the web pages, but in PDFs which are linked in the columns at the right of every page).

Please realize that we tend to update a page (or a PDF) primarily when it is clear that our readers ask about this brand or model frequently. With over 45 brands of UV printers and over 200 models in the past ten years, it is not realistic to update pages on obsolete brands or unpopular models. If you prefer to speak with Nicholas Hellmuth in person about a printer, you can bring him to your company anywhere in the world as consultant.

By later in 2012 more of our web sites will be in 36 different languages with instant translation (and better than old fashioned web page translators of several years ago). So far all the languages are available on www.FLAAR.org and www.3d-scanners-3d-software-reviews.org. Next will be our www.large-format-printers.org.
