Skyjet 1316 UV-cured inkjet flatbed printer
It is hard to figure out the model designation for the Skyjet printer at ISA 2005. It had no model number, just “Skyjet flatbed printer.”
Literature from their website called it a SKYJET Multi-function UV flatbed Printer, again, no model number.
Other pages on their website shows a Skyjet 1316 that looks very similar to the undesignated newer printer.
Then at ISA 2006 and again at FESPA Digital 2006, we found a brochure that listed the SkyJet UV-Belt-2008, SkyJet UV Belt-2012. Yet the brochure available at the summer 2006 Shanghai trade show called it only the UV Flat-bed printer, with no model number.
Since there is so little information about this printer available, we have issued a FLAAR Fast Facts, now available. We are updating this with notes from the recent Shanghai summer 2006 trade show.
There is much more information on other Chinese printers: FLAAR Reports cover the Flora LJII-1800, Infiniti Xterius 16Uvs, Infiniti UV-1606, Teckwin Tecksmart UV 1600, Teck UV 1800, and the American version of the Flora, the Raster Printers 720-UVZ.
Their American competition are the ColorSpan 72UVX and the Gerber Solara UV2.

New UV Printers unveiled at ISA and/or FESPA Digital trade show (May 2006)
Whereas the Skyjet 1316 printer appears to be unfinished still after two years, there are plenty of other more advanced printers that are being shown at recent trade shows, such as the Mimaki IPF 1326 flatbed UV printer, the new ColorSpan 9840, the new Durst Rho 600 Pictor, GCC StellarJet 183UV and bedigital Grapo Manta.
Two Skyjet printers appear at Shanghai ‘07
The UV Flat-bed Printer 2418 or Skyjet UV Flat-bed Printer 2412 were exhibited at Shanghai ’07.
Shenyang Sky Air-Ship Computer Painting Co., Ltd. also exhibited their alpha stage Skyjet Cylinder Digital Printer, that looked like a primitive attempt to recreate the successful HP Scitex TurboJet UV printer at a smaller size. I admire their initiative, but it has a long way to go.
