Vutek PressVu UV 320/400 flatbed as replacement for screenprinting

Actually a UV-cured ink flatbed is not so much a replacement for screenprinters as an additional printer to add to your screenprinting company or sign shop.

Vutek makes their Vutek PressVu UV 180 series and their Vutek PressVu UV 200 series flatbed printers. Then they offered their Vutek PressVu UV 320/400.

The UV glass primer system sounds like a good idea. We like it because at last a printer company admits that you have to pre-coat glass for the ink to really adhere. But what the brochure does not reveal is what kind of heating unit is required to heat-treat the glass.

The original idea of this model was for screen printing shops that asked for faster output and said they were willing to accept lower quality (to achieve the faster output). But the competing UV printers of other brands offered fast output AND good quality, so the VUTEk Press-Vu 320/400 did not set many sales records; fairly quickly it was replaced by the VUTEk QS2000 and QS3200 UV printers.

At FESPA it was possible to meet and speak with the President of EFI. Next we had the opportunity to discuss the details of new features and capabilities of the Vutek Press Vu 320/400 flatbed printer.

But where the FLAAR Reports differ totally from any other source are the comparative comments by digital imaging professor, Dr Nicholas Hellmuth. As author already (before FESPA) of over 33 FLAAR Reports on UV-cured inkjet printers, materials, and inks, he offers a unique perspective on the pros and cons of each and every flatbed printer.

There is no other source that offers FLAAR Reports on every single UV-flatbed printer in the world. And even if there was someone else bull-headed enough to track down all this documentation elsewhere, the advantage of the FLAAR Reports is the experience and dedication of Nicholas Hellmuth to providing information.

FLAAR websites are read by more than 400,000 people a year in over 42 countries. We have been surprised to see the degree to which the FLAAR Reports are as much sought after by manufacturers (to learn how their printers fared), and to see what the competition offers (and how it fares in the FLAAR evaluations).

So whether you wish to buy a Vutek printer, or wish to sell a Vutek printer, you might like to learn what the word on the street says about its strong points and those aspects that are perhaps in need of modest further improvement.

The complete set of FLAAR Reports will save you not hours, but weeks of endless searching on the Internet. Besides, we package everything conveniently in nice standardized format. So you can find the same feature, and how most other printers handle this.

Realize that we have five levels of reports: Fast Facts, First Look, Second Look, Site-Visit Case study, and in-house examination. To keep things simple, since there are dozens and dozens of printers, we tend to use the Fact Facts, First Look, and Second Look levels for flatbed UV-cured printers.

Most of our updates for 2008 onward are in FLAAR Reports in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. It is more efficient for us to make new information available in PDF format. So if the web page itself is not updated, check out www.wide-format-printers.NET to see if the printer, RIP, or other subject is covered in an update in a PDF download.
