Mimaki JV3-250SPF baby grand solvent inkjet printer

This is one of the few stretch-models of inkjet printer that offers white ink. Although Roland showed white ink the same 2005 ISA trade show as did Mimaki, Mimaki had already had white ink for several years in its UV-curable inkjet printers. The general consensus is that Mimaki’s ink is acceptable while that of Roland is a tad weak. These are comments heard on the floor of the trade shows. It would take a lab test to know for sure.

The Mimaki JV3-250SPF can print in dual-CMYK mode, or with 6 colors, or 6 plus two white channels.

Print width is 2.55 meters, which is 100.3 inches.

The spec sheet does not indicate what ink is used; a full-solvent variety is most likely. For its other printers Mimaki offers three ink chemistries: eco-solvent, mild-solvent, and full solvent.

List of stretch-models of solvent inkjet printers

So far the new HP 8000s and the HP 9000s mild-solvent inkjet printers are not stretch models. HP will probably have Scitex Vision handle the true grand format sizes.
